Pengpai Ocean / PX-160
PX-160 Portable Survey AUV
Compare Pengpai Ocean's PX-160 Rudder and Teaching configurations for underwater monitoring, research and teaching demonstrations. Aqua Robot Supply coordinates equipment selection and project quotations. The 100 m Rudder rating and 50 m Teaching rating are different configurations, not an adjustable depth range.

Rating and load qualifications
- 50–100 m in the page title summarizes two configurations: Rudder is rated to 100 m and Teaching to 50 m. Never substitute one depth or navigation package for the other.
- The detailed table identifies Teaching; the catalogue overview repeats the Rudder label. This page follows the detailed table and does not create a duplicate model.
- The 8 h and 6 h endurance figures both apply at 3 kn. Manufacturer metric figures are authoritative; full test conditions, current tolerance and navigation accuracy remain to confirm.

| Parameter | Brochure value and definition |
|---|---|
| Dimensions — Rudder | Ø160 mm × 1800 mm long (approx. Ø6.30 in × 5.91 ft) Configuration notesManufacturer diameter and overall length; not a mounting or shipping drawing. |
| Dimensions — Teaching | Ø160 mm × 1500 mm long (approx. Ø6.30 in × 4.92 ft) Configuration notesThe teaching variant is shorter than the Rudder variant. |
| Vehicle weight | Rudder: 20 kg standard; Teaching: 20 kg (approx. 44.1 lb each) Configuration notesVehicle mass, not payload. Battery basis and packed weight need confirmation. |
| Payload | Rudder: 5 kg (approx. 11.0 lb); Teaching: not specified Configuration notesDo not assign the Rudder's 5 kg payload to Teaching. Payload mass, power and interfaces need confirmation. |
| Working depth | Rudder: 0–100 m (approx. 0–328 ft); Teaching: 0–50 m (approx. 0–164 ft) Configuration notesDifferent configuration ratings, not a continuous selectable range or a 100 m rating for both. |
| Velocity range | Rudder: 1–5 kn (approx. 0.51–2.57 m/s); Teaching: 1–4 kn (approx. 0.51–2.06 m/s) Configuration notesSpeed ranges, not current-resistance ratings. |
| Endurance at 3 kn | Rudder: 8 h; Teaching: 6 h; reference speed 3 kn (approx. 1.54 m/s) Configuration notesNot endurance at maximum speed; payload, battery, temperature and full test conditions need confirmation. |
| Navigation | Rudder: integrated navigation; Teaching: low-cost navigation Configuration notesThe series INS + DVL + GNSS description does not establish Teaching's default hardware or accuracy. Confirm the chosen navigation package. |
| Communications | Both: UHF, Wi-Fi and 4G. Rudder only: optional Iridium satellite and underwater acoustic communications. Configuration notesThe Teaching table does not list those optional links. Surface radio/cellular links are not underwater wireless guarantees. |
| Control and development software | Rudder: manufacturer visual control interface, secondary development and post-mission data processing/analysis. Teaching: open-source development and teaching-function extension. Configuration notesRudder networking/data-driven functions are customizable. Agree software versions, open-source components, interfaces and licenses for Teaching. |
| Ancillary equipment | Both: ground control box and rugged laptop listed; integrated ground control station optional Configuration notesFinal supplied control devices, batteries, transport and recovery equipment to be confirmed. |
| Expandable sensor scope | Underwater CCD, CTD, altimeter, obstacle-avoidance sonar and side-scan sonar Configuration notesExpandable configurations, not automatic standard inclusions or verified compatibility with any third-party instrument. |
Task and integration scope
Applications and configuration

A separate manufacturer-series scene, not a PX-160 navigation or endurance test. It does not establish offshore sea-state suitability, underwater wireless links or sensor inclusion. Agree launch, retrieval and mission conditions for the selected configuration.
Application scope
Monitoring and research
The manufacturer describes its portable AUV range for marine-parameter monitoring and sensor-carrying experiments. Select navigation, depth, payload and data requirements for the actual task.
Teaching demonstrations
The Teaching configuration supports open-source development and customized teaching extensions. Confirm curriculum needs, software components, control functions and safe launch/recovery conditions within its 50 m rating.
Aquaculture observation
Fish-farming uses are listed for the manufacturer's micro-AUV range. Assess cage geometry, obstacles and retrieval access; no cleaning capability or net compatibility is demonstrated.
Selection limits
Choose Teaching for a confirmed teaching/development requirement only after checking its 50 m depth limit and navigation scope. Do not treat it as the Rudder platform with identical sensors. Current, obstacles, recovery access and task payload require project review; tethered live inspection may call for an ROV instead.
Documented vehicle equipment
Rudder / Teaching variants
Both weigh 20 kg in the detailed table. Rudder has a listed 5 kg payload; Teaching's payload is unspecified. Depth, speed, endurance, navigation and software differ.
Navigation and software
Rudder uses integrated navigation with manufacturer control software. Teaching lists low-cost navigation and open-source teaching development, not the same guaranteed navigation instruments or accuracy.
Surface control equipment
UHF, Wi-Fi, 4G, a ground control box and rugged laptop are listed for both. Exact devices, antennas, battery and supply scope must be itemized in the quotation.
Optional equipment and integration
Rudder optional communications
Iridium satellite and underwater acoustic communication are optional in the Rudder table. They are not listed for Teaching; any Teaching communication extension needs a separate technical confirmation.
Sensor integration
CCD, CTD, altitude sensing, obstacle-avoidance and side-scan sonar are listed as expandable scope. Confirm instrument dimensions, power, connectors, protocol, data output and available payload.
Teaching development and ground station
Teaching functions can be extended; the exact open-source software and development interface are to be agreed. An integrated ground control station is optional for both variants.
Interfaces to confirm
Provide the intended sensors, software stack, required data format and navigation accuracy, plus instrument mass, power and interfaces. Teaching's open-source description is not proof of compatibility with a particular framework or third-party device. No project integration drawing or compatibility test is supplied; agree the bill of materials before ordering.
A brochure equipment reference is not a final delivery list. Specify each instrument, controller and accessory in the quotation.
